Quiet Merzouga Desert

Fez Desert Tour

Fes Desert Tour

A two-day private trip from Fez to the Sahara and back. Cross the Middle Atlas and the Ziz Valley, ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, spend the night in a desert camp and watch the sunrise before returning to Fez.

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Gorges – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

Your driver picks you up at your riad at 8:00 am. We cross the Middle Atlas Mountains through the cedar forests of Ifrane – the “Switzerland of Morocco” – and Azrou, continue via Midelt and follow the Ziz Valley and its gorges towards the Sahara, reaching a hotel at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes before sunset.

After a rest and a glass of mint tea, your guide and camels take you across the dunes as the sun goes down. At camp there is more mint tea, a good dinner, then a campfire and Berber drums. You sleep in a Berber tent with its own bathroom.

Day 2: Merzouga – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fez

Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, then have breakfast and a shower and ride back by camel to the hotel. We drive north through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas to the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can see wild Barbary macaques, and continue via Ifrane to arrive in Fez in the early evening.
