Marrakech Three Days Desert Tour

Travel from the red city of Marrakech to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga on this private three-day trip. You cross the High Atlas Mountains, follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, spend a night in the Dades Gorges and ride a camel to a desert camp to watch the sun set over the Sahara.

Day 1: Marrakech – Dades Gorges

We leave Marrakech early in the morning and climb the Tizi n’Tichka pass over the High Atlas Mountains, with a coffee stop and a visit to an argan oil cooperative. Lunch is at Aït Ben Haddou, the most famous kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the afternoon we drive through the Skoura oasis, where old kasbahs stand among the palm trees, and on to Kelaa M’Gouna in the Valley of Roses, known for its rose-based cosmetics. We reach the Dades Gorges in the evening for dinner and a night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast there is time for a walk along the river before we drive to the Todra Gorge for lunch beneath its towering rock walls. We then continue via Erfoud to Merzouga.

Your camels are waiting at the edge of the dunes. The ride to camp takes about an hour, and you watch the sunset over Erg Chebbi on the way. At camp you stay in a private tent with a comfortable bed and your own bathroom. Sandboarding is available, and the evening ends with a Moroccan dinner, Berber music and a campfire under the stars.

Day 3: Merzouga – Marrakech

Wake early for sunrise over the dunes, then enjoy breakfast and a shower at camp. We drive through Rissani, near the ruins of the old caravan city of Sijilmassa, then through the Berber villages of Alnif and N’Kob and along the Draa Valley to Agdz. In Ouarzazate we stop for lunch and a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, then cross the High Atlas Mountains again to arrive in Marrakech in the early evening.
