Morocco offers an incredible mix of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. One of the best ways to experience it all is through our three-day desert tour from Marrakech. This tour takes you from the vibrant city of Marrakech through the scenic Atlas Mountains and ends in the historic city of Fes, all while visiting some of the most iconic destinations in Morocco, including the Merzouga Sahara Desert.
If you’re looking for an adventure that includes camel rides, Berber villages, and UNESCO World Heritage sites, this is the perfect journey for you!
Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi N Tichka – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Your adventure begins at 8 AM with a pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. We will start our journey toward the Dades Valley by driving through the stunning High Atlas Mountains. On the way, we’ll traverse the famous Tizi N Tichka Pass, known for its breathtaking landscapes and traditional Berber hamlets scattered across the mountainside.
Our first major stop will be the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. This historical fortress has been featured in over 20 international films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. The Ait Benhaddou Kasbah once played a crucial role as a stronghold on the Old Salt Road, where caravans from sub-Saharan Africa traded gold, ivory, and salt.
Next, we’ll pass through the famous film hub of Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” It’s home to the Atlas Studios, where many films such as Lawrence of Arabia were filmed. Afterward, we’ll continue our journey through the M’gouna and Skoura regions, dotted with Berber villages, before arriving at the beautiful Dades Valley for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Sahara
After breakfast, we’ll start our desert adventure, heading towards the famous Erg Chebbi sand dunes in the Merzouga Sahara Desert.
Our first stop will be the impressive Todra Gorges, Morocco’s largest canyon. You’ll have time to walk along the river and marvel at the towering rock walls, which are perfect for photo opportunities.
Next, we’ll drive to Erfoud, marking the beginning of the Sahara Desert. After a stop for lunch, we will continue towards the heart of the desert: Merzouga. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun sets, you’ll be treated to spectacular desert views, followed by an evening of Berber music around a campfire.
Your night will be spent in a traditional desert camp under the stars, with the option for sandboarding, and you’ll have a private tent equipped with modern comforts.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes
After watching the magical sunrise over the dunes, we’ll have breakfast and start our journey back to Fes. Along the way, we’ll pass through the picturesque Ziz Valley, famous for its palm trees and oases, and stop in Midelt, a quiet mountain town known for its apple orchards.
We’ll also pass through the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to Azrou, known for its lush cedar forests and the friendly Barbary macaque monkeys that live there. Finally, we’ll arrive in Fes in the evening, marking the end of your unforgettable desert adventure.
