Nights and Days by Camel

Explore the Erg Chebbi dunes the traditional way – by camel. Choose a short sunset ride, a day trip to visit nomads, or combine a day and a night in the desert.

1. Desert Sunset by Camel

Ride your own camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes and watch the sun slowly go down over the Sahara. The ride takes about an hour each way.

• Included: a camel per person, nomad guide there and back, water, help with photos, meeting point with parking for your car

2. Day Trip by Camel

At 10:00 am you ride for about an hour and a half across the dunes to the nomads who live behind Merzouga. Enjoy a lunch of Berber pizza with tea and spend some time sharing their desert life, then ride back to the hotel in the afternoon (about an hour and a half).

• Included: a camel per person and guide, Berber pizza lunch, water, tea, shower at the hotel, parking for your car

3. A Day and a Night by Camel

Day 1: at 10:00 am you ride for about an hour and a half to visit a nomad family living alone behind the Erg Chebbi dunes. See how the original people of the desert live in their traditional tents, watch them bake bread and Berber pizza, and share tea and lunch. Then ride for about an hour to a camp in the dunes for sunset, a tasty dinner and Berber music. Afterwards, sleep – or walk in the dunes by starlight.

Day 2: after sunrise and breakfast at the camp, ride about an hour back to the hotel.

4. A Night and a Day by Camel

Evening: at 4:30 pm you ride for about an hour to a comfortable camp in the middle of the dunes. Walk up the dunes nearby to watch the sunset – on a clear night the stars are spectacular – then enjoy dinner with Berber music in the silence of the desert.

Next day: walk up the dunes for sunrise and have breakfast. At 10:00 am you ride for about an hour across the dunes to the nomads behind Erg Chebbi for a Berber pizza lunch with tea. After relaxing and sharing their desert life, ride back to the hotel (about an hour and a half).
